MONDAY, Sept. 23 (HealthDay News) --A new study shows the effectiveness of a Viagra pill may be the same as that of a generic version of the popular erectile dysfunction drug, a new study shows.
The study, a collaboration between the University of California, San Francisco and the University of the Arts and then San Francisco’s University of Medicine and Dentistry, found that men who took Viagra were more likely to use erectile dysfunction drugs.
Researchers reviewed records of nearly 200,000 men aged 18 and older. The study was published in the April issue of theJournal of Sexual Medicine, a journal of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.
Viagra, or sildenafil citrate, was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998. It is the first medication that men with erectile dysfunction, or impotence, need to be prescribed to treat their symptoms.
Viagra works by increasing blood flow to the penis, but it also increases the risk of developing stomach ulcers, heart disease and kidney problems, which is a health risk for older adults.
Men who take Viagra also take medications such as Tadalafil, an over-the-counter drug that contains the same active ingredient as sildenafil citrate.
Viagra and Tadalafil are used to treat men with erectile dysfunction. They work by increasing blood flow to the penis, but they also increase the risk of developing heart problems and kidney problems.
Viagra is available as a tablet in a 2.5 milligram or 5 milligram strength.
The study involved nearly 200,000 men aged 18 and older, who took a study of Viagra before being prescribed the pill. Participants were randomly assigned to take a single dose of sildenafil citrate at a dose of 2.5 milligrams or 5 milligrams.
The participants also were asked to complete a questionnaire about their medical conditions and health history before the study.
“This is a really interesting, small-scale, small study,” said study leader Dr. Peter Scholz, of the University of Chicago’s Langone School of Medicine.
“This may be the first large, large, double-blind, placebo-controlled study that will be able to determine whether the effect of sildenafil on erectile dysfunction treatment is similar to that of Viagra.”
Researchers did not use the results of the study to analyze the drug’s impact on the male sexual life.
The study will be published in the June issue of the, the journal of the U.
Study participants received two doses of the drug: sildenafil 50 mg and tadalafil 10 mg, which are the highest-dose sildenafil doses.
The research was supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health and grants from the American Heart Association.
Viagra was first approved in 1998 as the first prescription drug for erectile dysfunction.
But it quickly became a popular treatment for men with erectile dysfunction, particularly in the United States.
In 2004, the Food and Drug Administration approved sildenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men with a physical medical problem, including erectile dysfunction that causes impotence.
Although Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs are approved by the FDA to treat erectile dysfunction, the new study did not find any benefits for men who take them.
The study analyzed data from more than 100,000 men who filled out the questionnaire about their medical conditions and health history.
Researchers analyzed the data to determine whether patients prescribed sildenafil 50 mg or tadalafil 10 mg had higher blood flow to the penis, a similar effect to Viagra, compared with those who did not.
Viagra is a medication that is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Viagra can also be used to treat impotence, a condition in which the penis does not make enough blood to fill the bladder.
The researchers found that men who took Viagra had an increased blood flow to the penis compared with men who took a placebo.

Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i) that is the first oral ED drug to be approved in Australia. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned of the risk of a fatal heart attack if used at high doses.
